“Lights, Camera, Dance!” will be held at Platt High School in Meriden, CT on June 13th and 14th

Dear dance families, 
For 9 years now, Star Dance Academy has provided students with an incredible performance experience through the June recital. It's a time when all of our thrilled students get to show an audience everything they've learned. The recital offers our students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their families and friends the results of their year's hard work, dedication, and to show their progress. Dedication to recital commitments is the responsibility of both the students and their parents/guardians. Please read the email thoroughly and save the dates as it's an effort to clarify what we expect from you in terms of commitment and reponsibilty to the annual recital, dress rehearsals, and more. Recital weekend is the biggest and most important event of the year and we strive to make it the best experience for our dancers and audience/dance community. We are known for having extremely entertaining recitals and we are excited for this year's show-stopping recitals! 


RECITAL 101: Everything You Need To Know

Program Ads & Business Sponsors! Ads are the perfect way to give a special shout-out to your dancer or to promote your business! The program is a memorable keepsake and dancers will have the special message forever! We have a limited amount of ad space in our program this year so please don’t wait! Once we have reached our limit, we will not be able to add anymore. Payments will be required within 5 days of submitting your ad or the space will be made available again. There is a separate ad payment box in the lobby and checks should be made to Star Dance Academy. Thank you!All ads are due by Saturday, May 30th. Please use this form to sign up for ad space in this year's SDA recital program. 3. Flower Order- All female dancers are required to have flowers at recital for bows. To make it easy, flowers will be delivered to our recital and will be available for pick up in the lobby before recital begins. Click here to Order Flowers Now! All flower options and colors are listed in the form, pictures for reference! Orders due by 5/30!

4. T Shirt Order Form! Recital shirts are a great keepsake to remember the season! Each t-shirt includes the names of all dancers from season 9! These are optional to purchase, however they are great to wear leading up to recital and to dance/studio events. Order Recital Shirts HERE! Payments and orders are due by 5/26. T shirts are $27 each.

5. In Studio Dress Rehearsals- In-Studio Dress Rehearsals are mandatory 6/8 & 6/9 at 5pm with costume changes. Rehearsals are estimated at about 2.5 hours, but dancers can leave after their last dance. Rehearsals will be run throughs of the acts of recital with costumes & our Marley dance floor to prepare dancers, have production numbers come together & help our tech rehearsal on 6/12 at Platt run smoothly.

6/9 RECITAL 2 -5pm @ SDA

6/10 SOLO/DUO/TRIO 4:30-6pm, DEDICATED DANCERS 6-6:30pm &VIP @ 6:30-7pm at SDA

6. Tech Rehearsal 6/12 - Tech Rehearsal @4:00pm at PLATT Costumes are optional for this. Because of school, we changed to a tech rehearsal which means the schedule of routines will not be the same as the recital order. All routines will run once so dancers can practice on the stage. We recommend wearing your recital t-shirt if you're not doing costumes changes. In-studio dress rehearsals are extremely helpful in practicing the true order & costume changes.

7. Family Sign Ups-Each family is required to volunteer or donate an item to help support our recital. Looking for  help with set up, concessions/sales tables, tickets, backstage, dressing room, snack/concession donations, breakdown and more! Backstage badges will be given to qualifying volunteers. Sign up here!

8. Tickets Go on sale 5/24!Please ask family/friends now so you know how many tickets to purchase together or send them the following links: Recital 1 will go on sale at 11am through this link and Recital 2 will go on sale at 12pm through this link! Dancers who would like to watch the show may purchase tickets through Miss Qusie via missqusie.sda@gmail.com. Please send her an email with letting her know the dancer name and which recital! Dancer tickets are $5. To qualify dancers must be enrolled in at least one class at SDA.

9. Recital Days 6/13 & 6/14! Dancers' call time is 1pm (must be checked in by this time) and the recital begins at 2:00pm. Dance with Me/Tumble Time can arrive for 1:30pm. Audience doors will open at 1:30pm.

Reminder: Dancers cannot have an outstanding balance or else they will not be allowed to participate in recital.Please check JackRabbit to ensure that all balances are paid for, that your dancer has the correct style/size shoes, and remember to communicate if your dancer will be missing class - attendance is crucial!
